The first deadline for the RGF “Growing the Humber” Expression of Interest forms has now passed and the team have been delighted with the response, receiving more than 100 Expressions of Interest through from across the Humber.
The £30 million RGF programme was launched in February and the “Growing the Humber” grant can be accessed for a range of projects such as; capital investment in land, buildings and machinery, research and development projects and workforce development.
However, don’t worry if you didn’t manage to get your form in or have since found out about the scheme, as the next deadline for Expression of Interest forms is Friday April 12 at midnight. There will be monthly deadlines until all the funding is committed, therefore the sooner you submit your form the better.
Businesses across the four Humber authorities can access the scheme which can add an additional £1 for every £4 contributed by applicants to support investment which will create new jobs, with the minimum grant businesses can access through the scheme now being £20,000.
“Growing the Humber” is managed by the Humber Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) and North East Lincolnshire Council (NELC) which is also the accountable body for the scheme. It was awarded by the Government’s Regional Growth Fund to unlock the development and growth of the area and create sustainable jobs.
Lord Haskins, Chair of the Humber LEP said: “It is great to see the initial response of over 100 local businesses to access the RGF scheme to help them develop and grow in the Humber. This is a good sign that businesses have the confidence to plan ahead to invest in the area and create employment opportunities for local people to access.”
Cllr Wheatley, portfolio holder for regeneration and environment, North East Lincolnshire Council, said: “This is a fantastic result from the first round of submissions. Next round we are really keen to see more renewables projects from Grimsby and the South Humber Bank to spend some of the £10million which is ring-fenced to support this sector in North and North East Lincolnshire”.
If you would like to find out more about RGF and how it may be able to help you and your business there are a number of drop in events planned across the Humber:

The Regional Growth Fund (RGF) is a £2.6 billion fund operating across England from 2011 to 2016. It supports projects and programmes that lever private sector investment to create economic growth and sustainable employment. The first three rounds will generate over £13 billion of private sector investment and create or safeguard over 500,000 jobs. The fourth round of RGF is now closed and the selected bids to receive a share of the £350million available will be announced in the summer.
