Planning decisions affect where we live, work, play and how we travel.

Our new Local Plan will guide the location and layout of new development across the Borough. It will also influence how we travel, where we work and how we take our leisure.

Our Local Plan is being prepared at a time when there are significant opportunities for North East Lincolnshire to grow and prosper.

We recognise that we cannot do this work alone; we need your help and are keen for you to be involved in developing our Local Plan. We have published our Consultation Draft Local Plan for a six week public consultation.

The Consultation Draft Local Plan is, as the title suggests, a draft document and nothing is set in stone.

Consultation period has now ended

Thank you to everyone that has responded we are currently working to process all the comments we have received and will make these available via our consultation portal as quickly as possible.

Consultation period

The consultation period runs from 2 February 2015 until 13 March 2015

How do I make my views known?

We are seeking your views on all aspects of our Consultation Draft Local Plan (2015) and welcome your comments. A series of questions are asked throughout the document to promote discussion on the information presented. You do not have to answer every question.

Comments can also be made using the questionnaire. You can email your completed questionnaire to us at: newlocalplan@nelincs.gov.uk, or post it to:

Local Plan, Cofely, Origin One, 1 Origin Way, Grimsby, DN37 9TZ.

Comments should be received by 5pm on 13 March 2015.

Where can I find out more?

A copy of our Consultation Draft Local Plan, Executive Summary and questionnaire are available under the document download area of this page.

Also provided on this page are Adobe PDF versions of the detailed figures presented in the Consultation Draft Local Plan. These have been provided to aid clarity due to the limitation's of presenting them within the consultation document.

Paper copies of the Consultation Draft Local Plan, Executive Summary, and Sustainability Appraisal are available to view at the Council's main offices in Grimsby, Cleethorpes and Immingham and the Council's public libraries.

What happens next?

We will work to collate and process the comments we receive, and make these comments available for you to view on our consultation portal as quickly as we possibly can on their receipt.

At the end of the consultation period all the comments we receive will be considered as part of the preparation of a revised Local Plan document. At this time we will also consider the direction in which we will progress the revised document and identify whether we will prepare a Preferred Options Local Plan or a Submission Draft Local Plan document.

Within the Consultation Draft Local Plan we have identified one or two areas where we considered that we need to do more work. This work will be progressed over the next six months, and will include additional consultation.

We anticipate that the revised Local Plan document will be ready for consultation towards the end of 2015. We will publish more information about the direction we are following soon as we can and will review our Local Development Scheme accordingly.
